Welcome!

This is the website for a small speech therapy company called “Huhuilla”. Huhuilla is the workplace for Annika Lehto, a speech therapist working in Espoo, Helsinki and Vantaa, Finland. My speech therapy sessions are usually held in Finnish, but I am happy to communicate with parents also in English.

Huhuilla is a Finnish language word that means the gentle sound making of owls. When I was starting the company, I became inspired by the characteristics that are usually associated with owls like gentleness, wisdom, being able to listen carefully and wanting to learn. These are the values that I try to follow in my work.

Education and work experience

I graduated from the University of Turku in 2016. After that I’ve gained experience through my work and special training especially in speech and language development, interaction skills, oral and speech motor skills and developmental issues. I am familiar with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). My special interests include children who have diverse challenges in everyday life.

Work situation

I provide Kela speech therapy services under the subcontracting agreement with the service provider Tmi Puheterapeutti Heidi Leirimaa. You can get familiar with Heidi’s speech therapy services here.  Speech therapy can also be paid by yourself or by your insurance company. Contact me and let's talk more.

I give speech therapy in everyday life situations for example at client’s home, daycare or school. I don’t have an office space at the moment. I commute to work on an electric bike all year round. My area of ​​operation is Leppävaara and its neighboring areas in Espoo as well as the Western Helsinki and areas near Myyrmäki in Vantaa.
